Prodigy was built as a research lab that ships: the people who frame the problem are the same people who architect, build and remain accountable for the system that answers it. That is what keeps a compact team able to take on work usually reserved for much larger organisations.
02 · The story
Research that had to become real systems.
Prodigy began in 2018 as a research and development company. Its roots are in cybernetics, statistics, complex systems and practical engineering.
Founded by Răzvan Costin, PhD, a researcher with a doctorate in cybernetics and statistics, it was designed as a place where research does not stop at the paper.
The move into AI was not a pivot. It was the same work continued: understand complex information, design intelligent behaviour, make it usable. When the models became capable enough, the interesting problem moved to the layer above them: the architecture connecting a model to trusted knowledge, real data, and the person who has to act on the answer.
ION, the Romanian Government's AI advisor, is the most visible result. It also settled a question: a compact Romanian team can carry something with national visibility and institutional scrutiny attached to it.
03 · The Prodigy model
An intellectual services provider for artificial intelligence.
Two things have to be present at once: ownership of the underlying technology, and the capacity to understand a problem that has not yet been properly framed. Prodigy is built to supply both rather than one of them.
